Long time no sea

Hey there.

Sorry it's been a while, but I do have an excuse. For a while there (a while ago) I had a website called MaddenedMan, hosted by a friend of mine. I found that because I now had my own website (using the e107 system), I no longer needed this blog.

After MaddenedMan went well, I completely forgot about this blog. Of course, all good things must end, and my friend's father changed the website's hosting plan, meaning that I could no longer use it.

The tragedy of this story is the fact that after that, I did not go back to using this blog, but forgot about it, and mourned over the fact that I had no website (<- exaggeration)

Until now. I've remembered about this blog of mine. But don't worry, all you haters, I don't think I will go back to writing in it for a while. I may come back to it though, later on.

Therefore, Madness in the Method is put on hiatus until further notice.

What a load of puff...

I apologise in advance for the long post. If you don't like one paragraph, skip it, they're all pretty much they're own stories.

There's a new advertising campaign in Australia, about 'puff crust' pizza (www.sopuff.com.au). It's attempting to introduce the word 'puff' as a slang word, meaning 'cool', 'wicked', 'nice', or '1337' if you're a h4XX0r. Basically, I intend to counteract this advert, by introducing the 'anti-puff.' I am going to use the word 'puff' as a slang word meaning about the same as either 'crap' ('this is so puff'), 'f**k' ('this is puffing awful'), or 'stuff' ('go puff yourself').

I encourage you to use these simple phrases in your everyday life, when talking to friends, countrymen, puffheads, etcetera.

Go Xbox LAN Parties! I just held one in my house, which I used to do last year in high school during the holidays. I decided to throw another party (called Lach-LAN), since I hadn't seen a couple of people since school split last year. I found it very difficult to spread the news of this xbox party, as last year I had just told people at school before the holidays ended, and now there was no school to tell people at. I had to resort to emailing people, and using a few odd contacts I've kept unsevered (Jason at TAFE, Chris and Tyde and Adam on the weekends, some people over MSN messenger) to talk to their contacts etcetera. I expected a total of around 10 people to turn up on Saturday (I used to get between 20 and 30). I was very surprised when I got around 16-18 people. It was pretty fun, despite slight undercatering (should have got another two pizzas).

Today it's Monday, which means that today is the one weekday I don't have TAFE. I slept in til 1pm, then went to my computer, hoping to browse the web for information on Film Noir, but alas the internet was not working in my house. This woke me up, and, out of shock, I had a shower and rearranged my loads of useless stuff in my room, taking me from 2pm til when my mother got home at around 5 30. I now have a tidy desk, and my room is more organised than it was before.

At the moment, my family is on a Bigpond 'Unlimited' deal, meaning that we can use broadband internet access as much as we want, so long as we don't mind the fact that the speed goes down to 64kps (about dialup speed) after we download 10GB in a month. It's usually pretty close whether or not we go over 10 gig before the month is out, but this month, on the fourth, we'd downloaded 4GB. Basically, it's the 20th, and we're down to dialup speed. This makes many things on the internet a headache, and others impossible. For example, playing online games is an impossibility. Streaming music is puff, and downloading files any larger than 5 mb is a hastle.

Luckily, we're changing to a 20GB/month plan next month, because Dad figured that if we've been going over 10GB in some months, and Chris is moving in, meaning that there's another person downloading stuff, we're not going to be able to keep under 10GB in a month. The only problem is that now, if we go over 20GB, we have to pay for extra download. Oh well, We'll have to be careful about that.

Anyway, I'll be off.
Puff you later,
The Loco-mobile.

Contractual Obligation Post

Unfortunately, I haven't really had anything mind-bogglingly easy to write about lately, but I'll try and talk about the happenings of a while back.

My friend is moving in with me. This may sound normal to you, unless you know that I still live with my parents. I'm flatting with my friend... IN MY PARENT'S HOUSE. This should be cool though, as I'm sick of being the only teenage boy in the house.

Also, I've started planning 'LachLAN 2006.' This is an Xbox Party. Go to http://LachLAN2006.blogspot.com to find out about it.

I found a cool game called 'Soldat.' (www.soldat.pl) It's a great game which is like Worms in Real time with little soldier dudes, but with really good mouse aiming controls. I introduced this game to my friend, Daniel (whom I confessed to knowing in the first post), and he's addicted. Good stuff.

Anyway, that's about all that I can think of for now. Oh yeah, I bought a bunch of guitar picks (a spectrum of plectrums), one of which is metal.

Seeya.

Stupid public transport

Today was a nightmare. I really wouldn't be surprised if I woke up.

I had to get to TAFE by 1pm for a class, from Dad's work. I figured out that the best way to do that would be to catch a train from Auchenflower (Dad's work suburb) to Roma Street Station, change over to a different line and catch a train to Southbank, where there is a TAFE campus. From there, I would have to catch an intercampus (free) bus from southbank to Morningside campus (where I have TAFE.)

Of course, as things tend to go on days like this, they went sour. I left my wallet at Auchenflower station, and had to go back to get it from Roma St. This set my times off by quite a bit, as I had planned it pretty tightly. I figured that if I caught a train to Southbank from Roma St as planned, I would catch the bus from Southbank TAFE an hour after I had planned to, making me ten minutes late for class. I was willing to do that. When, however, I got to Southbank TAFE, the intercampus bus was full. The driver was not legally allowed to take me if I didn't sit on a seat. And the intercampus bus only comes once every hour.

So that made it seem that I would be 1 hour and 10 minutes late. I decided to catch a train from Southbank to Morningside Station (about a 10 minute walk to TAFE), and then walk it, as it would be quicker. I figured I would arrive at Morningside Station and walk to TAFE, making me only 50 minutes late. Of course, in true 'today' fashion, I missed Morningside Station due to the fact that I could not for the life of me understand what the voice over dude was saying over intercom. I realised this about 10 minutes after we passed the station. I got off at Lindum Station, waited there for about 15 minutes for a train to come back the other way, and got on, for a 10 minute train ride back to Morningside Station.

Bleurgh. I must say that having a Brisbane city map in my bag made it quite easy to find Morningside campus from the station, being the easiest and most on-time thing I had done that entire time.

All in all, I arrived at class about an hour and a half late for class. No biggy though, I apparently didn't miss much, and you don't get detentions for being late in tertiary education.

To get home, though, I had to catch the train from Southbank to the Gold Coast. This was no problem, except for that the ticket teller was closed, and I had no coins with which to buy a ticket from the machine with. I didn't buy a ticket, as I had to get home, and got caught by the security guy about half way home. He let me off and took down my details, with a warning.

But apart from that, today was good.

Madness in the method

Hey there. This is Lachlan of Australia.

I've already started a couple of blogs under a pseudonym which some may know, but I've decided that since this blog is going to be a normal personal blog, I had better use a nonpseudonym, or maybe just a nym.

Just in case you care, I'm in TAFE, doing a Diploma of Screen (Digital Sound and Music for Media), hoping to go into music composition for computer games and movies. I have hair. I still live with my parents, as I only finished school last year and have no job or citizenship with which to claim regular moneys. I enjoy making music, and playing on computers. My hair does not sit on a shelf when it's not in use. I know people, but I will not name names, to avoid people getting insulted.

I know Daniel!

But anyway, apart from that, I'm currently a Christian Existentialist, if that makes sense to anyone (It worked for Kierkegaard).

From now on, I will post on a regular basis of whenever I get around to it, and will post on the happenings of the day. I will try to keep it as general and unpersonalised as possible so that people won't be able to figure out my secret identity (my name's a good start), and so that I don't have to think too hard.

Please leave comments. I like attention.

Fare thee well.
